Deep Crimson Lips On The Runway

Lipcolor continues to be the big news at the fall collections. Yesterday, J. Crew’s eclectic juxtaposition of prints and textures was perfectly offset by luminous skin and a dramatic streak of deep, fuchsia-inflected red.

This was without question my favorite makeup look of the week. With noticeable lips like these, a well-groomed brow and a light dusting of pearlescent sheen on the skin are all you need to balance the look – anything more would be redundant. A lipcolor this intense is not for the timid, but for any woman who wants to make a statement, there’s a good chance that Icon Velvet Creme Lipstick from Hourglass will be your new go-to color come fall. $30.

Thanks to my sister, Stefanie, who turned me onto ICON by Hourglass. I have been wearing this lipstick for years. I prefer to wear it dark so it looks like a rich cranberry color or you can go light and take some off with your finger to give it a really light matte berry look. I am obsessed with the smokey eye look even for daytime but this lipcolor forced me to go light on my eyes. It is such a great lipstick that you need barely anything else on your face. ICON is really all you need. Each time I wear ICON people always compliment me. I have very dark curly hair and this color just makes my look. I can’t count the number of times I wrote down this brand name and color for someone. It is a must have. Thanks Helene!
